Budel 2012 is cancelled!

Yesterday we heared the terrible news that  the meeting @ Budel has been cancelled!

I've copied the press release from the Dutch Beetle Club:

 

The international Beetle Weekend is cancelled

EINDHOVEN – The International Beetle Weekend Budel (IKW Budel), scheduled from

the 15th untill the 17th of June 2012 has been canceled. This has been announced by the

organization on Monday the 30th of April.

The organization has been forced to take this decision due to heavy demands on security. In

this form the event is not possible to realize.

According to the organization, the commitment on security, and manpower is just too much.

This event will not benefit from this type of heavy security. It is no longer manageable in its

current form, says chairman Erik Eck. "We organize the event with a team of people. All

parties support the decision. "The entire organization regrets the decision, but understands

the sacrifices that are made.

We as the Beetle Club Netherlands will take this year to set up a new International Beetle

Weekend. This will be in a form which the members are accustomed to but in a different way

and new location.

Paaskevertreffen Winksele - 9/4/2012

Today we went to Winksele for the easter-meeting organised by 'Bloemme' from 'Fototreffen'.

Filip and I drove his '67 Westfalia SO 42.

Although the weather forcast wasn't great: in the afternoon there was a reasanable turn out.

There were some nice looking cars: Nikie with the 412, a Karmann Ghia Low Light, a rat look brezel and many more.

Sadly enough the heavy rain made the drive home quite dificult.

K-UE @ Techno Classica 2012

Today Brecht and myself went to the fair @ Essen - Germany. We went over there to deliver Brecht's 1303 with sunroof. The car is one of the three cars that are on the club display of the Käferclub Ultima Edition.

The fair is from 21. until 25. of march.

Ninove 2012: The Callook Edition

This year's edition of the Aircooled V Dub meeting @ Ninove was an even bigger success: more then 800 cars participated at the meeting.

We all enjoyed talking to one another after the long winter and took a look at a lot of very nice cars while drinking a beer or a coffee in the sun.

In the afternoon there was no parking place left in the entire town centre: every where there were aircooled volkswagens and porsches and a lot of motorcycles.

Fresh snow and update

After a couple of days of real winter weather, this afternoon it also started to snow.

I meanwhile the voltage regulator of the UE is replaced and the 1302 finaly became his homologation.

So both cars are up and running again.

The new license plates are huge on the small enginelid of a beetle :-(
